Access tables exported to MS Word have .TXT extension due to design.
Cause:
Access cannot export data as .DOC files. This is by design of Microsoft Access.
Solution:
As a workaround, open the text file with Word for Windows and then save it as a .DOC file.
1) Open the text file in Word:
a) In Word, select the 'File' menu and select 'Open...'. (The Open dialog box appears.)
b) Select 'Text Files (*.txt)' from the 'Files of type' drop-down list.
c) Select the drive where the text file is located from the 'Look in' drop-down list.
d) Select the folder that contains the text file.
NOTE: If the text file is in a subfolder, continue selecting folders until the file is displayed.
e) Select the file. (The file is highlighted.)
f) Click 'Open'. (The text file opens in Word.)
2) Save the file as a Word document:
a) Select the 'File' menu and select 'Save As...'. (The Save As dialog box appears.)
b) Select the drive where the new Word file is to be stored from the 'Save in' drop-down list.
c) Select the specific folder to store the Word file.
NOTE: If the text file is to be stored in a subfolder, continue selecting folders until the desired folder is displayed in the 'Save in' drop-down list box.
d) Type a new filename in the 'File name' drop-down list box.
e) Select 'Word Document (*.doc)' from the 'Save as type' drop-down list.
f) Click 'Save'.
